 Light the Way: Don't Leave Your Loved Ones in the Dark activities started with a "Kick-off Event" at the Ohio State Fair, on August 5, 2003, sponsored by the Ohio State Bar Foundation. Fairgoers learned about the importance of advance directives and filled out 200 of these health care forms at the fair. Since then, the Ohio Hospice and Palliative Care Organization took over the Light the Way Campaign. OHPCO continues the annual "Light the Way Month" in August, which includes an annual appearance at the Ohio State Fair to help Ohioans complete advance directives. Each year volunteer Lawyers from the 2000 Fellows class return the to the fair and offer assistance to fair goers who want to complete advance directives. Cable Television shows, radio coverage, summits, conferences, and web site information with links from Provider/Partners began in August 2003 and have continued, with an annual "Light the Way Day" coinciding with every Senior Citizens Day at the Ohio State Fair. More than 2 million people throughout Ohio have received advance directives information via newsprint and newsletter articles from more than three dozen Service Provider Partners.
