Giving made easy through our funds

We offer many types of funds to meet your charitable interests. Our assets are held in separate funds, each with its own purpose. Our endowment is composed of two types of funds.

Unrestricted Funds

Gifts to the endowment that have no restriction as to purpose are placed in the Unrestricted Fund. The board of the Foundation can use this fund, in accordance with its policies, to meet changing needs and opportunities in pursuit of its mission. Other donors may decide to establish their own separate named unrestricted funds.

Field of Interest Funds

Many donors care most about specific areas of interest. The Foundation has established the following field of interest funds:

Law & Leadership Fund

  • The Law & Leadership Fund was established in 2009 by the Foundation Board of Trustees to support the Law & Leadership Institute.
  • The goal of the Law & Leadership Institute is to establish and sustain a “pipeline” into the legal profession for disadvantaged students from underserved schools into the legal profession.
  • The Law & Leadership Institute was developed and promoted in partnership with the Ohio State Bar Association, Ohio's metropolitan bar associations, the law schools in Ohio, the Supreme Court of Ohio, the League of Women Voters, and others.
  • This fund encourages involvement by Fellows, private citizens, law firms, and businesses.
  • This restricted fund supports the Law & Leadership Institute, LLC.

Friends And Neighbors Endowment Fund

  • The FANE Fund was established in 2005 by the family of Linda Thompson Kohli in recognition of her 10 years as Executive Director of the Ohio State Bar Foundation.
  • Contributions by Fellow and Life Fellows are welcome.
  • This fund also encourages involvement by non-lawyers, law firms, businesses and others who are not eligible to become Foundation Fellows.
  • Proceeds from this restricted fund support Foundation programs. Gifts of all sizes are welcome. The Foundation is in the process of developing a number of Field of Interest Funds to support our endeavors.
