
Kimes-Brown recognized by law foundation for community service
MCARTHUR ATTORNEY RECEIVES BAR FOUNDATION HONOR
Columbus – (December 1, 2009) Ms. Trecia Kimes-Brown of McArthur won district honors from the Ohio State Bar Foundation as this year’s recipient of the Award for Community Service by Attorneys 40 and Under. She is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association District 8.
The Ohio State Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Ohio State Bar Association. The Foundation advances the philanthropic interest of Ohio Lawyers to recognize excellence, improve the justice system and enhance public understanding of the law.
Ms. Kimes-Brown was nominated for the honor by Ms. Dana Gilliland for her commitment to public service. She runs her own law firm which involves regular practice in real estate, corporate filing, probate work, juvenile work, child support, guardian ad litem representation and domestic relations. Currently, she is the President of the Ohio Business and Professional Association.
Outside of the legal profession Ms. Kimes-Brown volunteers for groups such as the Friends of Lake Hope, the Vinton County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the Herbert Wescott Memorial Library and the McArthur United Methodist Church. It is for these services to the community that Ms. Kimes-Brown received the Award for Community Service by Attorneys 40 and Under.
This award is presented to honorees in Ohio State Bar Association Districts across Ohio. It recognizes attorneys aged 40 or younger who contribute substantial time and effort to a local social service, or a local civic, artistic or cultural organization. The service must be outside the recipient’s practice of law and must be given without compensation. Recipients should represent the ideals of the legal profession, be a credit to the profession and enjoy a fine professional reputation.
