CRESTLINE ATTORNEY RECEIVES BAR FOUNDATION HONOR

Columbus – (December 1, 2009) Mr. J. Sebastian Berger of Crestline won district honors from the Ohio State Bar Foundation as this year’s recipient of the Award for Community Service by Attorneys 40 and Under.  He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association District 5.

The Ohio State Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Ohio State Bar Association.  The Foundation advances the philanthropic interest of Ohio Lawyers to recognize excellence, improve the justice system and enhance public understanding of the law.

Mr. Berger was nominated for the honor by Mrs. Mary Eileen Holm for his commitment to public service.  He currently practices law with his father for the firm Garner & Berger.  In 2005, he was elected to the joint position of Secretary / Treasurer of the Crawford County Bar Association.  He was elected Vice President two years later.

Outside of the legal profession Mr. Berger serves as a member of the Crawford County Developmental Disabilities Board and donates his time to the board of Child Care Choices. It is for these services to the community that Mr. Berger received the Award for Community Service by Attorneys 40 and Under.

This award is presented to honorees in Ohio State Bar Association Districts across Ohio.  It recognizes attorneys aged 40 or younger who contribute substantial time and effort to a local social service, or a local civic, artistic or cultural organization.  The service must be outside the recipient’s practice of law and must be given without compensation.  Recipients should represent the ideals of the legal profession, be a credit to the profession and enjoy a fine professional reputation.
