
Foundation Board Announces 2010 Board of Trustees
Columbus (March 8, 2010) David B. Bennett and Keith A. Ashmus were elected to year-long terms as President and President-Elect, respectively, of the Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF) Board of Trustees.
The Ohio State Bar Foundation, the charitable affiliate of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA), is a membership organization of civic minded lawyers and judges. Through the talents of our Fellows, the OSBF advances the law and works to build a better justice system. There are 18 members of the OSBF Board of Trustees.
OSBF’s new President David B. Bennett is a partner of Knowlton & Bennett in Cambridge, Ohio. Bennett’s practice includes real estate, probate, business development and family law. He is an active member of the OSBA and ABA. He has been a member of the OSBF Board of Trustees since 2003, most recently serving as Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee. Bennett is actively involved in the Cambridge community and serves on the boards of several organizations designed to improve the city of Cambridge. Bennett currently is a member of Cambridge City Council where he serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee and President Pro Tem. He also serves as a Trustee on the Cambridge Main Street Board, an organization dedicated to improving downtown Cambridge. Bennett also serves on the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation Board of Trustees where he has been elected President on two occasions. His other community involvement includes the Cambridge City Schools Education Fund Board of Trustees, Cambridge Architectural & Design Commission and Guernsey County Dollars for Scholars Board of Trustees. Bennett graduated cum laude from Bowling Green State University and received his juris doctorate from Capital University Law School.
Keith A. Ashmus is an attorney with Frantz Ward, LLP of Cleveland, Ohio. Ashmus’ practice focuses on labor, employment and business law as well as alternative dispute resolution. Ashmus has been a Fellow of the Foundation since 1988. Ashmus, currently Chair of the Membership Committee, also served on the Audit & Finance Committee and is a past President of the OSBA. He is also an active member of the ABA. He is a past chair of both the Labor Law Section and the ADR Committee of the Cleveland Bar Association and has presided over the Commercial Arbitration Advisory Panel of the American Arbitration Association. Committed to the community, he has chaired the Salvation Army\'s Greater Cleveland Advisory Board, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Cleveland Partnership where he also is its representative on the Funders Committee of the Fund for our Economic Future. He is the 2009-2010 Chair of the National Small Business Association and is past chair of COSE, the Council of Smaller Enterprises. Ashmus received his bachelors of arts and his master’s degrees from Michigan State University and received his law degree from the Yale Law School.
