Lycans recognized by law foundation for community service

Columbus, OH (April 16, 2012)— Andrew P. Lycans received the Ohio State Bar Foundation’s Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 & Under at the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) District 10 Annual Meeting on April 10 at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center in Mansfield.
Lycans has excelled both professionally and in his service to the community. A member of the firm Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston, Ltd., he also serves as a trustee for the United Way of Wayne and Holmes County. For the past three years, Lycans has volunteered numerous hours and is now helping the United Way create a new fiscal policy and code of regulations.
“I really enjoy researching the law,” said Lycans. “You get to study all of the pieces and put them together so someone’s rights can be vindicated.”
In addition to his volunteer service, Lycans is member of the OSBA’s Council of Delegates representing District 10. He is also a member of the Wayne County Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association.
Lycans received his B.A. from the University of Akron and went on to earn his law degree in 2003 from the University of Michigan.
About the Award
The Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under is presented to attorneys, 40 years of age or younger, who contribute substantial time and effort in service to a local social service or to a local civic, artistic or cultural organization. The service must be outside the recipients’ practice of law and given without compensation. Emphasis is placed on current service. Recipients represent the ideals of the legal profession and, by example, are a credit to the profession. NOTE: The Community Service Award is presented to attorneys in each of the Ohio State Bar Association’s 18 districts, and the statewide award recipient is chosen from these district honorees.
